Colour Run

Last Saturday, I headed down to Brighton's seafront to complete my first 5k! Although I had been training for what seemed like forever, it had fallen by the wayside recently and my fitness was dwindling. Still, I managed to make it around the course in thirty-two minutes- not least because of the encouraging words of my friend, Lucy, who stayed by my side for all of the five kilometres. The run itself was fantastic- after each kilometre, we were greeted with an explosion of colour in the form of coloured starch powder. The idea is that each runner begins in white kit and by the end, is covered in a kaleidoscope of colours- all in the name of fun and charity.

Whilst we enjoyed the bracing run through Brighton mid-morning and getting splattered with powdered paint, it was for a good cause. I was fortunate enough to raise a sum total of £200 for Cancer Research UK- a charity that is currently very close to my heart.

As soon as I feel up to it, I'm sure the running will continue. Next stop, ten kilometres? We'll see.
